  • June – Established Emaar Properties PJSC.
  • July – Commenced operation.

1998

  • Shareholders decide on a two-step capital increase through a 1:1 rights issue, and an extra preferential issue of 65 million shares allocated to the Government of Dubai.

1999

  • Launches Emirates Hills.

2000

  • March: Company listed on Dubai Financial Market – opens capital to foreign nationals.
  • November: Established Amlak Finance, UAE’s first property financing company.
  • Launches Dubai Marina.

2001

  • Announces township in Hyderabad, India.
  • May: Establishes Gold and Diamond Park.

2002

  • September: Dubai Bank established.
  • December: Launches Arabian Ranches.

2003

  • February: Announces Burj Khalifa.
  • November: Launches The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall.

2004

  • January: Emaar launches new corporate identity.
  • February: Announces association with Giorgio Armani to open hotels.
  • June: Announces Downtown Dubai.

2005

  • February: Launches Emaar Industries, a private joint stock company with a paid up capital of AED 200 million.
  • May: Inks deal with Giorgio Armani to develop international collection of Armani Hotels and Resorts.
  • July: Launches Umm Al Quwain Marina – an AED 12 billion (US$3.3 billion) master-planned waterfront community.
  • August: Unveils blueprint for US$ 4 billion Uptown Cairo.
  • Announces AED15 billion investment to develop 150 malls in MENA and Indian Subcontinent.
  • October: Announces US$500 million development in Damascus, Syria.
  • November: Unveils AED 4.5 billion (US$1.2 billion) Bahia Bay in Morocco in association with ONA Group.
  • December: Emaar-MGF Land Private Limited, a joint venture of Emaar Properties and MGF Developments Limited of India, announces India’s largest FDI in real estate with a capital outlay of US$4 billion.
  • December: Unveils SR100 billion King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia.

2006

  • January: Announces investments in education within MENA region and India; acquires Singapore-based Raffles Campus to provide educational expertise.
  • March: Announces AED18.35 billion (US$5 billion) investment in healthcare sectors in MENA and South Asia.
  • March: Launches US$700 million Tuscan Valley Houses in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • May: Launches three real estate developments of total investment AED 8.8 billion (US$2.4 billion) in the cities of Islamabad and Karachi in Pakistan; unveils Canyon Homes in Islamabad.
  • May: Opens full-scale Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad, India.
  • July: Joins hands with Turner Corporation to form Turner International Middle East Ltd
  • August: Acquires Hamptons International, a UK-based premier realtor
  • August: Wins tourism resort land from the Egyptian government ; announces EGP 10 billion (AED 6.30 billion/US$1.74 billion) Marassi development.
  • September: Acquires Singapore-based Raffles Campus.
  • September: Emaar wins ISO 9001:2000 quality certification.
  • October: Announces expansion of King Abdullah Economic City by four times to 168 million sq m to become largest ever development in the Middle East.
  • October: Emaar the Economic City holds IPO, which is over-subscribed; the company is incorporated and listed in Saudi stock exchange.
  • November: Announces expansion into Jordan with Samarah Dead Sea Resort.
  • November: Announces opening of joint venture company in Libya with leading development zone, Zowara-Abou Kemash.
  • November: Emaar MGF joins hands with Accor to form a joint venture, Budget Hotels India Private Limited, which will develop 100 budget hotels in the country in ten years with planned investments of US$300 million.

2007

  • January: Expands the company’s entire property management services portfolio under the Hamptons International brand.
  • March: Burj Khalifa, at Level 110, is now the tallest structure in the Middle East and Europe.
  • March: Emaar acquires full ownership of its Egyptian subsidiary, Emaar Misr for Development.
  • March: Emaar and India-based MGF Group, through their joint venture company, Golden Ace Pte Ltd announces voluntary conditional cash offer for RSH Limited.
  • March: Wins the coveted Dubai Quality Award.
  • April: Emaar Misr launches two new mixed-use projects near New Cairo City and on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road in Egypt.
  • April: Expands to Indonesia with the US$600 million (AED2.2 billion) mixed-use development in Central Lombok Island, spread over 1,200 hectares.
  • May: As part of its CSR programme, Emaar reconstructs the earthquake ravaged Ngelepen village in Indonesia.
  • May: Sponsors four 8-seater and two 30-seater buses for the United Nations Office for Project Service, to upgrade Palestine’s Al Mintar/Karni Border Crossing Project.
  • July: Emaar Properties marks international stature with FT Global 500 ranking, making it only one of two companies in the UAE with this international status.
  • July: Emaar Properties assigned A- and A3 ratings by Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.
  • July: Burj Khalifa reaches a record high - At 512.1 metres (1,680 feet) and 141 storeys, Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world.
  • Sep: Burj Khalifa scales 150 storeys and is the world’s tallest free-standing structure.
  • Sep: Emaar Properties contributes AED 25 million to Dubai Cares initiative.
  • Oct: Emaar enters Algeria with four mixed-use projects valued at US$20 billion.
  • Oct: Emaar Properties unveils luxury Armani Residences in Burj Khalifa.
  • Oct: Emaar Middle East unveils first phase of SR6 billion Jeddah Gate.
  • Nov: Emaar wins ISO 14001:2004 certification.

2008

  • an: KAEC signs MoU with EMAL International, a joint venture of Mubadala Development Company and Dubai Aluminium Company, to establish a greenfield aluminum smelter complex with a direct investment of SR18.4 billion (US$5billion).
  • Feb: Emaar Turkey signs agreement to purchase 73,571 sq m of prime land in Istanbul; the purchase protocol valued at US$400 million was signed with Toprak Holding.
  • March: Emaar signs JV agreement with Bali Tourism Development Corporation to develop Lombok project.
  • April: Burj Khalifa, at 629 metres, becomes tallest man-made structure, surpassing KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota.
  • April: Signs MoU with Shanghai China-News Enterprise Development Limited to explore mixed-use property and infrastructure projects in key Chinese cities.
  • April: Emaar.E.C joins hands with DP World to develop Sea Port in KAEC.
  • April: Emaar.E.C signs MoU with GEMS for establishing schools in KAEC.
  • May: Emaar Education opens all-girls school in Umm Suqeim
  • ay: Emaar Hospitality Group launches The Address Hotels + Resorts, the own hotel brand.
  • May: Emaar Middle East unveils multi-billion dollar Al Khobar Lakes residential community in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
  • June: Emaar unveils Dubai Fountain, a spectacular water fountain, in Downtown Dubai.
  • June: Emaar Education announces opening of Raffles Campus School of Hospitality dedicated to hospitality training.
  • June: Emaar unveils Warsan Estate in Dubai.
  • June: Emaar Healthcare Group partners with Methodist International of the US to manage hospitals in the Middle East region.
  • July: The Address Hotels + Resorts announces first property in Egypt – The Address, Uptown Cairo.
  • August: Emaar unveils AED12 billion Mushrif Heights in Dubai.
  • September: Emaar Residences at the Fairmont Makkah launched.
  • September: The Dubai Mall announces that Bloomingdale’s will be its second anchor store.
  • October: Emaar joins hands with Al-Shoala Group of Establishment to develop SR27 billion Rawabi Rumah, a mixed-use community near Riyadh.
  • October: The first Address property, The Address Downtown Dubai opens doors to guests.
  • November: The Dubai Mall opens marking a history in retail with the largest number of store openings in a single day; the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo wins Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Acrylic Panel.’.
  • November: Emaar Hospitality Group opens Dubai Marina Yacht Club.
  • November: Emaar launches pioneering To Own scheme to make property purchases easier.
  • December: The Dubai Marina Mall opens.
  • December: Emaar Misr joins hands with Abu Dhabi Municipality to develop and manage the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Residential City in Cairo.

2009

  • January: The Address Hotels + Resorts wins first-ever international contract to manage the Jnan Amar Retreat in Morocco; partnership with AAH Group in Saudi Arabia.
  • January: The Dubai Mall opens the spectacular Waterfall.
  • February: Armani/Casa opened first dedicated store at The Dubai Mall.
  • February: Emaar Boulevard to host first Classic Car Show.
  • February: Emaar Misr launches Mivida in New Cairo City.
  • March: The Address Dubai Mall completes structural and cladding work.
  • April: SAGIA and Emaar.E.C sign MoU with Sanofi-aventis to establish entity in KAEC.
  • May: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid formally opens The Dubai Mall.
  • July: Emaar Properties hands over Burj Views homes in Downtown Dubai.
  • July: The last cladding panel of Burj Khalifa ready for installation.

  • October: Emaar's first healthcare facility The Dubai Mall Medical Centre opens to offer world-class medical care.
  • October: The Dubai Mall crosses landmark 30 million visitors.
  • November: Emaar Misr signs EGP 80 million contract with Great Cairo Water Authority for water supply in Uptown Cairo.
  • December: The Dubai Mall opens The Grove Dubai's first open-air retail streetscape.

2010

  • January: Thousands take part in inauguration of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
  • January: KidZania opens at The Dubai Mall.
  • February: ‘At the Top’ hosts NASA astronauts.
  • February: Emaar Healthcare Group opens Meadows Clinic.
  • March: Emaar observes Earth Hour on March 27.
  • April: Emaar Misr unveils dedicated Diplomats Village in Mivida.
  • April: Armani Hotel unveiled in Burj Khalifa, Dubai.
  • May: Burj Khalifa welcomes its first residents in Armani Residences.
  • May: Emaar International Jordan launches Mediterranean-style apartments in Samarah Dead Sea Resort.
